History of VAEOP

The Vermont Association of Educational Secretaries, now the Vermont Association of

Educational Office Professionals, has been in existence since October 1938. During that

time, the membership has ranged from the original 15 to a high of 270 people.

The goals to further professional growth, service, recognition, and fellowship have been

maintained by the Association through these years and have been provided by the annual

meeting, conferences, workshops, and participation in promotional and educational

programs.

Educational office professionals are an important link in the total educational program of each

student and they are proud to be members of the educational team.

The Association's conference and business meeting is traditionally held the Friday of the

NEA convention at a host school facility throughout the state.

Beginning April, 1994 we have co-sponsored a spring conference with the Vermont Principals

Association.

In October, 1995, the Association hosted the National Association of Educational Office

Professionals in Burlington, VT. There were about 200 in attendance from around the

country.
